Belt Guiding
The Fife Belt Guiding Systems increase board accuracy into the slitter/scorer and assure exact centerline alignment of continuous belt lines. This results in improved board quality with less belt fatigue because of lateral repositioning of the belt is restricted to the amount of error detected as opposed to the full stroke lateral movement of the typical “on-off” limit switch guide system.
The system provides exact alignment of the continuous belt by using a closed-loop, fully proportional system. The D-MAX Series Web Guide Controller works as a closed-loop system detecting edge and center guide information from the DAC-004 Diode Array camera sensor and directing the guide structure to make the correct alignment adjustments prior to the slitter/scorer function.
Key Features:
- Fully automatic. Operator attention not required
- Virtually maintenance-free, protected from dust, condensation, other contaminates
- Easily installed on existing belts.
- Eliminates need for “on-off” control system or mechanical side guides which harm the belt.
Tension Control for Belt Guiding
Cygnus Tension Control
The Cygnus compares this actual tension reading to the set point (tension specified) then sends directs to the brake, giving it direction to engage/disengage, etc. The tension system on a bridge guide is handled in a continuous loop. The nice thing about Cygnus is that it includes Weightless Load Cell Calibration, multiple languages and is the most accurate, robust control available.
TSU Under Pillow Block Load Cells:
TSU Load Cell are easy to install and ruggedly constructed with built-in mechanical overload stops in both force directions, and will stand up to mill duty. A full Wheatstone bridge arrangement is incorporated in each load cell for the most accurate means of measuring web tension. These load cells accurately measure the total force on the entire roll created by tension in the web, and the readout will be precisely displayed no matter what the position of the web.
Key Features:
- Rugged industrial construction
- Positive overload stops in both compression and tension modes of operation
- Four foil strain gauges in a full Wheatstone Bridge
- Low cost with high quality components
- Simple installation
- Sensing actual web tension
