Oklahoma City , OK . – MAGPOWR, a leader in web tension and torque control, announced the Spyder at CMM 2005. Spyder is a cost-effective closed-loop tension control for brakes, clutches or drives in unwind, rewind or point-to-point applications.
Ideal for operations where tension control is required and not changed very often, the Spyder saves space in a control cabinet and is easy to mount. Ethernet communications allow setup and control via an existing HMI or remote access to parameters via an internet connection. Higher levels of accuracy and power can also be accessed via the product’s own LCD readout and user-friendly keypad.
“The fact that the controller can be accessed remotely via an HMI or the internet is especially helpful for converters who don’t want to mess with the tension parameters.” describes Darrell Whiteside, Product Manager for MAGPOWR. “If they prefer, a MAGPOWR technician will walk through the current parameters with them to identify potential problems.”
Converters can mount the Spyder within a control cabinet and feel secure knowing that the tension parameters will not be changed unnecessarily. Simple tuning, adjustable taper tension and security lockout provide precise control over web tension, without constant attention or special training.
