Bromptonville, QC, January 19, 2001 - Kruger Incorporated will install a third Tidland ESP - Electronic Slitter Positioning system in May 2001. Installed on a Dominion paper machine winder, the ESP system will operate at 8000 fpm web speed, with a 162" web width capability, and have 9 slitting stations.
ESP has a unique dual-motor drive that allows all knives, upper and lower, to be repositioned simultaneously in either direction. Absolute position encoders eliminate the need to ěhomeî the slitters before repositioning. The features combine to permit rapid slitter set-up changes to within .002 accuracy.
According to Charles Lepine, General Production Superintendent, previously installed Tidland ESP - Electronic Slitter Positioning systems have helped Kruger to improve slit quality and increase machine efficiency.
