Bridge Guiding

The bridge guide system provides precise alignment of the single face webs prior to the glue station with a closed-loop control circuit utilizing the D-MAX Controller, the SE-34 Laser*Wide sensor and the steering guide assemblies for guiding multiple webs.

Fife’s transmitted light sensor, the SE-34 Laser*Wide detects the lateral position of the single face webs, depending on the amount of transmitted light received. The light signals are translated by the D-MAX controller in relation to the selected guide point. As needed, the D-MAX sends a signal to the guide structure to adjust the material alignment. The movement of the guide structure positions the webs to the selected guide point. Correction is fully proportional to the amount of web error detected, assuring an unequalled degree of accuracy. Multiple webs can be guided simultaneously, yet independently.

Tension Control for Bridge Guiding

Cygnus Tension Control
The Cygnus compares this actual tension reading to the set point (tension specified) then sends directs to the brake, giving it direction to engage/disengage, etc. The tension system on a bridge guide is handled in a continuous loop. The nice thing about Cygnus is that it includes Weightless Load Cell Calibration, multiple languages and is the most accurate, robust control available.

TSU Under Pillow Block Load Cells:
TSU Load Cell are easy to install and ruggedly constructed with built-in mechanical overload stops in both force directions, and will stand up to mill duty. A full Wheatstone bridge arrangement is incorporated in each load cell for the most accurate means of measuring web tension. These load cells accurately measure the total force on the entire roll created by tension in the web, and the readout will be precisely displayed no matter what the position of the web.
